give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

5th Annual Forrest Spence 5k

The 5th Annual Forrest Spence 5k was almost 2 weeks ago.  Another day that celebrated my son and the incredible legacy he left behind.

I can only explain to people that planning for this event is like planning a wedding every year.  I start working on it around 9 months before and continue until the big day.  The month before is obviously really busy with the week of being crazy.  We do packet pickup and day before registration on that Friday at Fleet Feet.

Then race day we start getting everything set up at 5:00 am.  I truly have the most amazing committee and volunteers.  I have a committee of 28 people and around 80 volunteers who help make the annual race such a success.  So thankful for all of them!

One of the best parts for me is hearing the families speak who have been impacted by the Forrest Spence Fund.  Truly brings tears to my eyes to see the impact my son is having on the lives of families who have been impacted by critical or chronical illness.

We give out TONS of door prizes before and during the race!

I also love seeing new and old friends who come to the event.

It truly is a wonderful event that I am so proud of...talk about a grass roots event that has truly grown so much through the years.

Join us next year for the 6th annual Forrest Spence 5k on August 24th.
