Five for Friday

1.  This little guy cracks me up every day.  This particular day he was sad because Batman can't fly.  He thinks that Batman should be able to fly.
I think he thought our house may flood on this day.  He puts this life jacket on numerous times every day.  Not sure why but majority of things Miller does I don't understand. =)

2. I have loved seeing the 2 littlest relationship bloom. They adore each other.



3. Crazy to think in 11 short years this will be real life for my clan.  Austin driving with his 2 younger siblings in the passenger seat.


4. We went to Nashville last week for Fall Break. I will do a longer post on it soon but we had the best time being with the cousins.

5. While in Nashville I had dinner with Kacee, my college roommate. So great to have a night out without kids and actually get to finish a conversation. Love this precious friend and so thankful we are still BFF's after 15 years.

Maggie's 8 month professional pictures

We had the kids pictures taken when Maggie turned 8 months.  I just got the digital images I ordered back last night.  Love them!

Still can't believe I have 2 babies with blue eyes...both David and I are brown eyed so its fun to see my 2 littlest get the blue eyed genes from their grandmas. 
I wanted to include 1 picture with each child with their favorite lovie because when I think of my littles growing up, I will always think of blanket, monkey, and lovie. =)

Five for Friday

1.  My crew...love them!


2. The stomach bug hit my crew this past weekend. So sad to see the boys feel so terrible.   He chose to lay on the ground and didn't get up for a while.  Thankfully it was only 24 hours.  

3.  Took a picture of the boys in their sweatshirts to send to daddy.  2 of David's favorite teams represented by his boys.


 4. They spent some time riding 3 deep. Love seeing Maggie enjoy the little car as much as her brothers did.


5. Spent Wednesday on a field trip with Austin to the pumpkin patch. Loved having 1 on 1 time with him and seeing him with his precious friends.

Birthday Donation

For Austin's birthday party he wanted his friends to bring a gift that he could donate to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.  He helped me create a Wish List on Amazon that his friends could choose gifts from.  The list was based upon items that the Child Life Specialist had given me that boys his age could use while sick in the hospital.  We decided the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) was the best place for him to donate the gifts.  The PICU is where his big brother spent all 55 days of his life so it was extra special to our family.

Austin and I drove down to Le Bonheur and met David at the hospital.  We walked the halls with him and talked about the different parts of the hospital.

We then met Jamie, the PICU Child Life Specialist in the PICU waiting room and donated the gifts to her.  I am so thankful for Le Bonheur and the impact it had on my family so I loved seeing my precious boy give back to a place that we love.

So proud of Austin and his giving heart!

Austin's Lego Birthday Party

Austin wanted a Lego theme for his 5th birthday party which was pretty easy to do since we have so many legos.  I starting browsing the internet and seeing ideas I could find and replicate.

For the invitation I used card stock and folded 1 8.5x11 sheet in half.  I then used a 2 inch circle cutter to punch holes in another same colored card stock and placed 6 circles with glue dots on the cards to make it look like legos.

For the inside I used lego font and typed the words for the invitation.  I also cut parts of the invitation from the real Lego invitations I picked up when we were at the Lego store in Nashville in June.  
I used the same lego font I found online and printed the letters for his birthday sign.  For table decoration I used vases and jars I had laying around and filled them with different size legos.

David drew the lego man faces on each cup.  This was such a simple step that the boys (especially Austin) loved.

I purchased yellow gift bags and circle punched yellow construction paper out and taped them to the bags to make them look like legos.  
Each gift bag was filled with a lego man birthday builder pack, a lego cookie, 2 medals from their games, and the race car they each built.
The lego cake was made by a friend at church.  She does a wonderful job on cakes and they taste delicious!

The cookies were made by Sweet Happy Cookies (I will put a link to all things at the bottom).
Lego toss game.  You toss 4 lego blocks and whoever has the highest points wins.


Pin the hat on the lego man.  David drew a lego man and my mom colored it and then laminated it.  Austin colored a party hat and I copied it for each boy to have their own hat to pin on there.  



Each boy guessed how many legos were in the jar.  There were 14 legos.  Surprisingly Austin guessed exactly right.  Quite a few boys were close with 13, 15, 16, and 17.  Some were way off with 600, 750, 185, etc.


We also had build your own race car.  Each boy had their own set of race car legos that they were to build and then we raced them down the Speedway.
 
We also played a game of I Spy the Lego man.  I cut out numerous little lego men and hid them around the house.  The boys would go off to find them and bring them back.  In the picture below you can see 2 little yellow lego men hanging at the bottom of the iron things on the wall.

We went with a simple meal of pizza, grapes, and chips.  Perfect for 5 year old boys.
     
It was a great day celebrating Austin!  Thankful for the precious friends who came to celebrate him.
