Comfort and Joy

I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Swim lessons

Austin finished 2 weeks of swim lessons last Friday and did great!  I am so proud of him.  He was very proud of himself as well.  Gigi and I went and watched him at show off day.

Here are some videos I took of him swimming.
We are officially ready for the summer!

Austin's first tee ball game

To say Austin has been looking forward to tee ball would be an understatement!  He has been ready to play for years.  He has been so excited about his first game.  The whole family was in attendance for the game and he did great.  He had the first hit, first run, and first out.  I think we have found the sport he loves the most!

That's him squatting in the ready position.

I love seeing him in his uniform.  I think he looks like a teenager.

So thankful for these coaches and precious friends!
Here's to many more nights sitting out by the ballfields in my future!

Five for Friday

1.  Last Friday night daddy was working late so we had movie night.  The boys picked Cars 1.  I love that they are getting to the age where they can stay up a little later and do something fun like this.  Maggie only lasted a few minutes like this but it was fun while it lasted.

 2. We purchased Maggie a water table for our backyard and all 3 of them love it. Best $30 I have spent. Love my littlest rascals!

3. She just makes me laugh all the time. Untitled

4.  Sometimes you just have to put them to work.

5.  We LOVE our school.  Christ Methodist is the most precious school ever and Easter week was no exception.  The students tell the Easter story in a way that every child can understand.  Miller and I went for the Easter walk through and watched Austin put a flower on the cross.  It truly is a beautiful thing to be a part of.

Happy Friday friends!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a day filled with mixed emotions for me.  I am so thankful for my 4 little blessings on this day and thankful that I am called momma by 3 of them but oh how I long to be called momma by my sweet boy.  I know that many are hurting on this day and that Mother's Day is not all sunshine and rainbows for all moms so I want you to know I am thinking of you and praying for you.  I am praying that you would feel the embrace of our Lord and the peace that only He can bring.   My first Mother's Day after losing Forrest was so very painful and so difficult to watch all those who had their precious children with them while I longed to be with mine.  I had been a mother for 55 glorious days and then I was no longer a "mother".  I knew that I was forever Forrest's mother and I had faith that I would be a mother again (I was actually 5 months pregnant with Austin at that time) but I wasn't able to do all the things a mother would do with their child.  Instead of spending quality time with my child I was visiting his gravesite.  I just want all those who are hurting today to know I love you and I am praying for you today.

I am thankful today for all my many blessings though!  These three who call me mommy and I have the joy of raising.
Blessed to be their mother!
This precious angel who taught me to love and made me a mother.

And this amazing man who helped make me a mother. Enjoyed a great dinner last night with David and old friends from our time in Boston. #latergram
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

Please VOTE!

I know...I have been MIA but for good reason!  I took a little vacation to CA and WA while David was at a conference.  It was amazing and good for the soul.  I am back and have a lot to post but first I really need a favor...please go vote!   I sent this email out to almost all email addresses I have in my book.  Please, please go vote and pass it on to anyone and everyone you know.

Hey friends and family,

The Forrest Spence Fund is up for another $5,000 award from StyleBlueprint.  We originally weren't even one of the top 24 selected but with the help of our supporters who wrote the FSF name in we moved into top 12.  We are now in the top 6 and hoping to make it to the top 3 and then win.  All we need you to do is vote for the Forrest Spence Fund on StyleBlueprints website.  Click here to go to the website.  You only need to vote 1 time per week (the week ends on Sunday at 6 pm).  We are currently in 5th place against some great charities in Memphis who have a much bigger support system so we need all the help we can get.  Please go vote now and share with anyone you know.  $5,000 would make a big difference in the lives of families in the Midsouth.

Thank you,
Brittany Spence

Easter picture bloopers

You know it takes about 100 pictures to actually get 1 good one.  Here are some of the funniest ones.

Easter

I know it is way past Easter but I want to do some catching up before I move on to the present.

We spent the night before Easter at our church's annual Easter Eve Concert at the Levitt Shell.  It was a perfect night weather and company wise.  David's parents and my mom went with us and we picked up dinner on the way.  The kids loved every part of the evening.  This is an event we love going to every year.
Memphis friends...join us Saturday night! It will be a great night. Pack a picnic dinner and bring your family.
Maggie was enthralled by Myla and stood or danced by the stage for a really long time.
The next morning the kids came down to see what was in their Easter baskets and do our last Easter devotion.IMG_0030 IMG_0031 IMG_0032 IMG_0034 IMG_0038 IMG_0039 IMG_0040 IMG_0043 IMG_0050 IMG_0044 We tried to get pictures of our family and kids. Maggie wasn't very cooperative when we tried to get pictures of the 3 kids but then decided she would do a little photo shoot by herself.
