Comfort and Joy

I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Please come to Boston in the Spring Time...

I have always loved that song because it has some of my favorite cities in it...Boston, Denver, but my home is TN.  Love that!

Our trip to Boston was amazing!!!  Really, really wonderful.  It was so good to get away just the 2 of us.  It had been over a year since we had done that so it was such a treat.

We flew in on Tuesday evening and my close friend Kelly picked us up from the airport.  We stopped by her apartment to see her precious daughter and wonderful husband and then she took us to our bed and breakfast.  It was a cute little B&B right in the middle of everything. Untitled
We walked over to the Liberty Hotel and walked around (it's gorgeous) and then enjoyed our favorite meal of the week at Scampo.
Untitled Untitled
We split a delicious pizza, truffle fries, and butternut squash ravoli.  It was divine.    Untitled
David spent all of Wednesday at the Children's Hospital for his conference so I slept in a little and then walked a few blocks to our old church to attend my old bible study.

Untitled
It was such a treat to be back at the church and study that I grew so much and fell in love with so many incredible women from all ages and backgrounds. Untitled Untitled
After bible study I went to lunch with my old bible study leader, Carolee. She took me to the Omni Parker House. It was delicious as well.
Untitled
I had nothing but time that day so I walked slowly through some of my favorite parts of the city.
Guess where I am? One of my favorite cities in the world! #nokids Untitled Untitled Untitled
That afternoon I decided to rent a bike instead of taking the T to meet up with David and our good friends the Meduri's because it was game 1 of the World Series and I knew it was going to be crazy on the T. My basket was packed full of stuff that David needed but I loved riding through one of my favorite parts of Boston...the Esplanade and Charles River. Truly gorgeous. Untitled Untitled
For weeks David had been saying that if the Red Sox made it to the World Series that we were going because we would be there at the same time. I would listen and nod yes but didn't think it would really happen but guess what...it did and it was amazing!!! Truly a bucket list item! We bought tickets with our great friends the Meduri's and had an incredible night. Untitled
We started the night with drinks and appetizers at a bar right next door to Fenway and the excitement was contagious. Everyone was in great spirits and having the best time. Untitled
After drinks we headed into the game. Untitled Untitled Untitled
While we were living in Boston we went to a few games but because we would get $5 tickets we would have to wait to get in until after the 1st inning so I had never experienced the beginning of a game. It was so much fun too. Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Go Red Sox! Untitled Untitled
The game was incredible!  The Red Sox played awesome so that made the experience even more amazing!  A funny story from the game: in one of the earlier innings a foul ball went flying.  It wasn't anywhere near our seats but I still proceeded to yell as loud as I could, "Git it David" with David drawn out in typical TN fashion.  A couple innings later another foul ball went flying (again no where near us) and our entire section started yelling, "Git it David" just like I had.  It was hilarious!  My TN accent was obviously very strong in that moment.  The rest of the game each foul ball the crowd around us would yell that.  It was truly such a fun game topped off with the fact that they WON!!!

Afterwards we waited around for a little bit while they taped ESPN outside of Fenway. Untitled

Five for Friday

1. Monday was tough just like every anniversary but the Lord met us in our sorrow and provided a lot of laughter and joy as well. Tim Keller in Walking With God Through Pain and Suffering. 2.  This quote was sent to me on November 4 and I can't stop thinking about it.  Truly so moving!
Tim Keller, Walking With God Through Pain and Suffering.

The idea that the prince of Heaven would empty himself and become poor, to live and dwell among us is humbling. The idea that there is nothing in the human experience that God himself has not suffered, even losing a child, is sustaining. And the idea that in His resurrection, Jesus' scars became His glory is empowering. God will use these scars for His glory, as they become our glory. Indeed, the end hasn't been written.

3. I love watching my 2 littles interact and enjoy each others company. This was taken at story time at Laurelwood Booksellers yesterday. Untitled

4. I truly enjoy checking on my boys after they are a sleep. I never know how Miller will be sleeping. I happened to have my camera to take a picture on this night. Untitled

5. The greatest woman I have ever met...my beautiful Grandmother. Maggie is named after this beautiful lady. Oh how I love her and loved seeing her last week. Such a treasure she has been to my life.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Austin's grade went on a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch the Wednesday before Fall Break.  I went along for the ride and had a lot of fun!

If you ask Austin his favorite part of the day he will tell you riding the bus.  The grade rented a Greyhound bus and we all rode together on them.  I love the little joys of children.  IMG_9327 IMG_9328 IMG_9329
They had all kinds of activities like shucking corn, playing on the playground, swinging on a tire swing, and playing corn hole. IMG_9330 IMG_9332 IMG_9335 Untitled Untitled
We then took a hayride out to find the "perfect pumpkin".  Austin took forever to find the perfect one but loved the one he finally picked.  IMG_9336 IMG_9337 IMG_9339
10 minutes before we were about to leave I see him walk over to me with a sad face.  I realize as he is getting closer that he is soaking wet.  He supposedly fell in the large corn trough filled to the brim with water.  I had no other clothes but thankfully a sweet friend had a change of clothes and let us borrow them.  The funny thing is that the last JK function he went to he also fell in water and became soaked from head to toe.  I have learned my lesson and will now take extra clothes on JK functions.

Random pictures

I have so much to catch up on that it's a little overwhelming.  I thought I would start with some random pictures of life lately.

My 10 month old is now standing on her own.  She is getting too big too fast.
My little garden gnome is standing on her own. #ohmy
Austin played his last soccer game this season. Sad to not have Friday night games anymore. I really enjoyed seeing my friends each week. Untitled Untitled Untitled
We put the 3 kids together in our big tub. They all loved it! It was too much for me to handle on my own because those 2 boys are crazy wild and she wants to keep standing but its fun to do when David is around.
Untitled
Before we left for our 2 trips we had some friends over for a cookout. One family has triplets and another family has twins. We also had over some other adults as well. It was a full house but oh so fun! 3+2+1=a fun but loud evening at our home tonight. Loved having the Womack triplets and Williams twins plus families over for dinner tonight. Can't wait to watch these 6 grow up together. Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled
Took the kids to the park the other day and the boys spent majority of the time collecting sticks and making a "wall" with them.  They also wanted to be pilots on this day as well.
Untitled Untitled Untitled
Austin learned to ride his bike without training wheels this weekend.  We have been practicing for the last few weeks but he really got it on Sunday.  I am so proud of this big boy!

This video is from a couple weeks ago at the cousins house.  Austin's cousin Olivia can ride without training wheels so that is what motivated him to try.  Obviously daddy is a lot better at teaching him than me.  I let him run directly into the prickly bushes (he says bee bush because that is where a lot of bees live when the flowers bloom in the Spring).  After he ran into the bushes I then died laughing instead of helping him.

Just a little recap of life around here.   Hoping to post our recents trips soon.

6 years gone

Today marks 6 years since I last held my son....touched his face...held his hand...and was close to him.
PB040072
Typing those words are hard to imagine much less know it really happened.  Its hard to understand unless you have been there and held your child as they passed away in your arms but that weekend was one of the most special and awful moments of my life.
PB040065
I wouldn't change anything about his last moments with us.  We laid with him in the bed and made sure he knew how very proud we were of him and that his work here on earth was done.
PB040066
He could go be with Jesus and be healed and healthy again.  We were forever changed because of his life but saying goodbye was so hard. PB040068
I am thankful to know because of my faith that I will see him again...I will be with him forever in eternity.  Some days that is the only thing that gets me through.  PB040070
Remembering his life today and praising the Lord for the 55 days we were blessed to be a part of it.

Read my posts from 5 years, 4 years, 3 years, and 2 years.

Five for Friday

1.  David and I went out of town to Boston for 5 days by ourselves.  It was magical!
Another great day in Boston! Biked the Esplanade, spent some time in Cambridge, and enjoyed our favorite bakery called Flour. We have loved our time away but ready to see our babies.

2.  While we were there we did this...it was amazing!
Untitled

 3.  Then I took the kids to Florida solo on a flight...it actually went well but I am still recovering and may be recovering for a little while longer.
Flying solo with 3 kids...prayers would be greatly appreciated.

4.  We flew to Florida to visit my dad, stepmother, and grandmother.  Maggie is named after my grandmother.  Marguerite Guy is my grandmother and Marguerite Anne is my daughter.  They both go by Maggie.  It was beautiful to see 2 of the most special women in my life together.  I will cherish this picture for ever.
Marguerite meet Marguerite. Worth the solo flight with 3 kids to see my beautiful grandmother meet my precious daughter. #tearsofjoy

5.  The kids were supposed to be superhero's for Halloween but I left their costumes in Florida. IMG_9366
Mom fail...they decided to be pilots instead and rebounded great since we had all that stuff on hand. Maggie went on to sleep. She was exhausted from the traveling and being on Eastern Time. Happy Halloween from 2 pilots! #momfail #leftcostumesinflorida #maggieisalreadyasleep

Happy Friday friends!  Enjoy your weekend!
