Austin is on the move. It's not the typical crawling but he is still getting there. He does some army crawling, rolling, belly scooting, whatever it takes to get to his toys. Here are some videos to see my little man on the move.
Comfort and Joy
I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

the beach
Sorry for the lack of posts but Austin and I just returned from a week at the beach with my in-laws. We drove to Nashville to spend the night with Anne and then caught a flight Friday morning to Pontre Vedra Beach. The weather was incredible. Not one bad day. Austin had so much fun watching his cousin Olivia play and interact with him. I look forward to the day when they are playing together. It was definitely tough being without David. Austin was still feeling a little under the weather and woke me every night (sometimes numerous times). I was exhausted and ended up sick myself but overall it was a wonderful trip. Here are a couple shots from our time there. My camera was acting up so I didn't get many pictures. I will post some from my in-laws when I get them.
first time in the sand (i couldn't get him to even look at me
because he was so interested in the sand).

sick little guy
Austin has been sick for almost a week now and it has been rough! He had a mix of bronchitis and the croup. He would sleep the best on my chest while I sat up but that made for very long and tiring nights for me. He took many naps on Gigi (my mom who was in town for Easter), Granddad, Grandma, David, and me. Thank Heavens he is starting to feel a little better now.
Here he is asleep on Granddad.

Green Beans
You can see from the pictures that Austin isn't so sure about green beans (or any food that is green for that matter). He loves sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and corn but hasn't enjoyed peas, broccoli, or green beans. He gets more on him than in his mouth. We go straight to the bath after eating our greens.

Forrest's wagon
The Forrest Spence Fund made some new purchases for Lebonheur and we went down today to see them and take pictures. The Fund purchased a medical grade recliner for the Mother's Room (nursing/pumping room for mother's) and a wagon for the babies and children to be pulled around in. The Mother's Room is where I spent quite a bit of time when Forrest was there and it needed some help. We wanted to make it a more enjoyable place to be so the Fund purchased a really nice chair along with magazine subscriptions for the Mother's to enjoy while they are in there. The wagon is a medical grade one that the children can be pulled in along with their IV pumps and equipment.

Austin and his daddy
Austin LOVES his daddy. His face lights up when he sees him. They have the best time together. David is the most amazing father I have ever seen. He is so hands on and does everything with ease. I never worry when I am not around because I know David is doing as good (if not better) job than me. I am very blessed.

1st time swimming
David and I took Austin swimming for the first time last night. We had the best time. He did wonderful! I am a big advocate for children starting to swim at a young age (6 months is when I think you should start) because then they will never know a time that they weren't in the water. You need to teach your children to love the water but still keep a healthy fear of it. You always discuss water safety with them and how they must have mommy or daddy with them to get in the water. (I am obviously getting off on a tangent...being a swim lesson instructor and coach for 12 years will do that to you). Anyways...we had the best time watching him experience it for the first time.

swimming on land
This is a video of Austin trying to move. He looks like he is swimming on land. It cracks me up every time I watch it.

sitting up
Austin has been sitting up for a few weeks with a little assistance but he now has it on his own. He loves sitting up and playing with his toys. He doesn't always stay sitting up very long as you can see in the last picture. I promise he didn't hurt himself though. He just happened to be falling right when I was trying to take the picture.
