Comfort and Joy

I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Glo-Worm

Our little man, the Glo Worm.  Miller's bilirubin was elevated so home health brought 2 bili rubin blankets to our home.  He has to stay on them around the clock for 36 hours.  Thankfully his number dropped 6 points within 18 hours which made this mommy very happy.  He is currently laying on 1 blanket and has to stay on it until the morning.  I will be thrilled when he has no blankets.  Its hard to snuggle and nurse him with glo blankets wrapped around him.

We're home!!!

We were discharged last night around 6:45! We were so thrilled to leave the hospital on day 2 instead of day 7 or never leaving the hospital. I am truly praising the Lord for Miller's health and quick stay. His culture came back negative at 6:00 and he was finished with all his antibiotics so everyone felt comfortable with us going home.

Miller's first night home he decided to stay up with mommy until 2:00 but I truly didn't mind because I was thrilled we were home! He is doing great eating and sleeping and is truly the sweetest baby.

Majority of the time Austin doesn't pay any attention to Miller but we did notice today him acting out a little more than usual. We think he was really wanting some extra attention so daddy spent some playing with him out in the rain. They splashed around in the puddles and had a great time.

my boys...

Miller is still doing great.  He is eating and sleeping like a champ and Austin is the best big brother.  I think he likes this more than Christmas.  He gets a new gift everyday from Miller and tons of special quality time with the grandparents.  We are still in the hospital but hoping to be discharged in the next hour.  They are waiting on the final results of the culture they took from Miller.  It will be read at 6:00 pm and then we are ready to hit the road.  We can't wait to have our family home together.

Introducing...

Miller David Spence!
IMG_0209
Miller was born at 3:04 pm weighing 7 lbs 14 ounces and is 21 inches long.  The delivery was wonderful and he is beautiful, healthy, and perfect.  We are thrilled to have him in our arms.  Austin has done great so far as a big brother.  I will post more pictures when I have time.

cute video

Here is a cute video of Austin and his Dingdad playing the harmonica together. Ron gave each grandchild a harmonica and loves playing it with them. The video cracks me up because Austin looks like he belongs on the Grand Ole Opry with his leg moving up and down.

I loaded this a few days ago to post today so you could have something cute to look at while you are waiting on pictures of Miller. :)

Happy Birthday Grandma

Happy Birthday to one of the most special women in my life...my grandmother. I love this lady more than anything in the world and I am so blessed to have her in my life. We were married on her birthday and I love sharing our special day with her special day. She has taught me far more than I can ever put in words. Her and my grandfather were married for over 65 years before he went to be with the Lord. I loved watching her take care of him. All three of my boys have been somehow named after her (Robert Forrest-Robert was her husband; Austin Allen - Allen was her's mothers side; Miller - her last name). I am so happy for each of my boys to share a name with a lady I admire, love, respect, and cherish. Happy Birthday Grandma.

3 days...

3 days until we meet Miller. I am so excited I could burst. I can't wait to see his little face for the first time and hold him to my chest. I can't wait for Austin to meet him and see David hold him for the first time. We are praying, praying, praying for a safe delivery and healthy little boy. We are praying he comes home on Thursday and has no extended stay. We will post pictures as soon as we can. =)

Splash Park

My in-laws belong to an Athletic Club that has a Splash Park. Dingdad and I took Austin a few times last week. He LOVED it!!! The kid loves water. It would be shooting straight in his face and he would just giggle. He would fall and go completely under and just stand back up and keep running. It was such a fun place for him to go.

Running out for the first time

Le Bonheur Grand Opening

This has been an exciting week for Le Bonheur. All week they are celebrating the Grand Opening of the new hospital. On June 15, 1952, Le Bonheur was open. 58 years later, a new chapter has begun. Austin and I were so excited to be a part of the festivities. On Monday I participated in the Consecration (Blessing) of the new hospital. Numerous clergy from the MidSouth were part of the ceremony and I was asked to lead the parent prayer. It was a touching and joyous time and I loved being a part of it.

The beautiful new hospital.

The Grand Opening was held on Tuesday. There was a parade with a ceremony afterwards. Austin and I were participants in the parade. It was a lot of fun but extremely hot.

Our family is extremely thankful for Le Bonheur and the way it takes care of children in the Mid-South. We are blessed to have a facility like this in Memphis.

our life lately...

We have been super busy the last few weeks so I am going to try and recap a few things.

I taught swim lessons for 3 weeks to children 6 months to 8 years old. I have done this for 15 years and love seeing children enjoy the water and learn to swim. (I didn't take any pictures during the 3 weeks so I borrowed these from friends).

David and I headed to a fun day at Shelby Farms. We started on a walk not knowing how far away we were getting from our car. There was one point where I thought I might go into labor in the middle of the park. It was extremely hot with no shade but luckly we all made it.
