Thanksgiving

Backtracking so I can get caught up.

We had a nice Thanksgiving.  Our cousins were supposed to come in town and unfortunately got the flu so couldn't make it so it ended up being a quiet time with just the grandparents.  David and I hosted this year and we were in charge of the turkey.  It made me nervous and we definitely learned some better techniques afterwards because ours took a long time and seemed a little dry.  It turned out better at Christmas.

We started the holiday with our family Thanksgiving Dinner down at Le Bonheur feeding all the families.  It was a great way to remember your blessings and to be grateful for what you have.

Our family continued our tradition of the Thankful tree.
We started Thanksgiving morning with a family breakfast and then watched the Macy's Day Parade together.

The boys received Nerf Guns for a special treat so we spent a lot of time shooting each other.
After Thanksgiving we spent time writing our Christmas lists and then went to get our tree and decorate the house.

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful week celebrating Thanksgiving.  Both boys classes had a Thanksgiving Feast where they dressed up and enjoyed a feast.  Miller's class was just for the students so I saw him in his costume when he came home.  His Native American name was Baby Spider Monkey. =)

Austin's class invited all the parents.  The Thanksgiving Feast is a big deal in JK so we made sure that David could attend as well.

I love how much they learned about the Indian and Native American cultures.  He really enjoyed learning all about Thanksgiving.
On Thanksgiving Day we headed over to my in laws house to enjoy a delicious meal. My mom and middle brother Matt also joined us at the Spence's. We had a great time relaxing, being together, and enjoying a delicious meal.

I am thankful for my 3 little turkey's.

recap of last few weeks

I am struggling to get to this blog so I am going to do a quick recap of the last few weeks mainly with pictures.

The cousins came in town for Thanksgiving and the boys loved playing with them.  They are each a year or less a part so its part chaos, part so much fun!  The kids adore each other which is so fun to observe.


The Sunday after Thanksgiving we picked out our Christmas tree.  I wanted a big tree since we have tall ceilings but didn't really think about the fact that an 8 month pregnant lady can't really help get the tree in the house and standing up.  It was quite a sight to see my husband putting up an 11 foot tree by himself but he did it.  The first night of getting it up and putting the lights on was a nightmare...the boys were exhausted, not having it, and my expectations of it being a perfect night were terribly off so everyone was in a foul mood.  In the end we just put them to bed and David put the lights on by himself.

We ended up decorating it the next night and it was definitely a better experience.  We made hot cocoa, put on Christmas music, and started decorating.  I think the boys put on 3 ornaments each. =)
