Comfort and Joy

I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

First soccer game

Austin joined a soccer team this year and his first game was last Friday night.  Yes, Friday night...that is when you know you are officially a parent and no longer lead the life you used too.  You now spend Friday nights at the soccer field watching your 3, almost 4 year old play soccer instead of being out on the town.  Honestly I wouldn't change it for the world.  Anyways, he had his first game on Friday and it was hilarious.  I don't know if the kids knew which way our goal was because they were constantly kicking it the wrong way.  I have a very competitive spirit so it was difficult for me to sit and watch without wanting to "coach" him the right way but I could tell he was having a blast.  I think he spent majority of the game wrestling his buddies instead of kicking the ball.  He is on the Orange Tigers Team and was a late add because of us moving back from Boston so for the first game he didn't have a number on his jersey.  We told him he was number 0 and he believed it so when we had a number added to his jersey this week he only wanted the number 0.  The Recreation Director said it was the first time someone has asked to be number 0! =)  He has 2 games this week so we have spent a little time in the yard practicing and getting ready.  We will see if tomorrow night he remembers to kick the ball the correct direction.
Austin's 1st soccer game! Go Tigers!!!
It is wild to think my kid is old enough to play on a soccer team.  Where did the time go?

We would get a helium balloon the color of our team (orange, in your case) and tie it to the goal that the kids were supposed to kick it in, so they would know which way to go...after doing that for a few games, they didn't need it anymore :)
