Today's Five for Friday is our dining room. My goal was to get this room complete by Thanksgiving and we just made it. The mirror and pottery was delivered last week so the room was ready for me to serve Thanksgiving.
We have one more leaf that we can put it along with pulling up 2 more chairs if we are serving more than 8.
I am very pleased with how it turned out. This was a room we had to do beginning to end. New wallpaper, light fixtures, table, chairs, mirror, buffet, curtains, and rug. I was excited to host Thanksgiving this year in my new dining room.
Happy Friday friends!
Comfort and Joy
I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

New York City
David and I had the chance to go to NYC for a weekend to see his co-fellow from Boston get married. We went at a beautiful time of year and loved being in NYC together. The wedding was amazing...I mean AMAZING...like nothing I have ever been too. I unfortunately didn't get the memo that it was black tie so I wasn't dressed appropriately so that was a bummer but besides that it was wonderful.
Friday night we started out at a restaurant for an informal get together. David and I didn't know anyone but the bride and groom and didn't want them feeling like they had to talk to us the entire time so we spent a lot of time just the two of us.
Saturday morning was raining but I was determined to have a nice brunch. My brother always talked about brunch when he lived in NYC so I wanted to experience that. It didn't disappoint but whenever you are having a Mimosa it usually doesn't.
The wedding was at 3:00 and about 45 minutes outside the city so after brunch we only had enough time to go back to the hotel and get ready. The wedding was in a Catholic church which was very pretty.
The reception wasn't until 7:00 so after the wedding we went back to the hotel, changed, and walked around NYC.
We stopped in the American Girl store. David called his sister to see if this was really legit and something Maggie needed. =)
We went to Times Square and walked around. Made sure we also stopped in the Lego store.
The reception was gorgeous. Everything about it was amazing. Again, underdressed but it was still amazing.
Sunday morning we woke up, enjoyed a quick breakfast and then headed over to the High Line. It was a nice walk with some fun views.
After the High Line we rented some bikes and biked around Manhattan. I thought I was going to be killed at least 20 times. It was fun but really scary.
It was a great weekend! NYC is such a fun place to visit...I would never want to live there but sure fun to visit.

Couples Lake Trip
Every year we go on a couples trip to Center Hill Lake with my best friends and roommates from college along with their husbands. We choose November because its the perfect time to sit on the screened in porch with a blanket, fire, and just talk for hours. We often don't get out of our pj's until almost dinner time on Saturday. I cherish these 4 girls and their friendships. We have been friends through the good, bad, and ugly. We have stood beside each other at our weddings, held hands as we said goodbye to Forrest, prayed and loved deeply as we prayed for a miracle for Hines, prayed and hoped for babies for each other, and so much more. God has been faithful through our friendship and I am so thankful to spend a weekend together every Fall.

Five for Friday - House Addition
We are finally finishing some rooms in our house and I am thrilled. It has been a long process and we still aren't there but I love what we have completed.
This Friday is dedicated to the boys room.
I found the beds on Craigslist while we were still in Boston. The bedspreads are from TJMaxx and the pillow and bedskirt were made. The boxes at the end of their bed were also from Boston at an antique shop.
The propellor is off of my father in laws first (or one of his first) planes. The boys LOVE this and I love the special meaning behind it. The light fixture and sconces were found by my decorator and I have no idea where she found them.
The curtains were left by the old owners. The dresser was purchased from a friend whose son didn't want it anymore. The chair is from our old living room set. The pictures above the chair are David's grandfather's pictures that he had framed. They are old planes.
The maps over the bookcase are old maps of Tennessee, Boston, and Memphis. Again, I love the meaning behind them. The bookshelf was built by my uncle for our nursery before we started having kids.
The mirror is from Wisteria and the lamp is from Ballard Designs.
David painted the painting below 5 or 6 years ago. We finally found a perfect spot for it. The bamboo hat rack is from an antique shop. The boys already have their baseball caps on it.
Large lego man is a present from David's brother.
I didn't want it to be "decked out" in all planes stuff but I wanted it to feel like a boys room without over doing it on a theme. I am very happy with how it turned out and they are thrilled which is what matters the most.

Naples trip
I met some girlfriends from my time living in Boston down in Naples, FL for a long weekend. The weekend was wonderful. Perfect weather, great friends, wonderful conversation, good rest and relaxation...it was exactly what I needed. I am so thankful for each friend in my life. God has known each step and point in my life who and what I need in my life and I am so thankful for that.
