We have had a busy but fun week in the Spence household. So what have we been up too:
1. Reuniting with these 2 after my weekend away.
2. Starting to nest for baby girl. Sorted through the newborn clothes and started soaking in oxiclean. I hate the yellow spots that show up on your clothes after they have been packed away for some time. I thought I had more gender neutral stuff since we didn't know the sex with Forrest but we have a LOT of blue, white, and yellow. I need to get some pink and flowers up in there.
3. Spent a fun morning at My Big Backyard with the boys. We truly love this place. It is a perfect place for little boys to be little boys. Its outside, room to run and explore, close by, and fun!
4. Did a little crafting so my biggest could be a pig for Farmer Day at school. Most kids picked to be a farmer but Austin really wanted to be a pig. He looked hilarious. He wore it all day and then slept with it last night.
5. This weekend is a 3 day/night event for David's work. Some of our residency classmates made the drive to attend. It was so fun to be reunited last night at the Rendezvous. We have missed seeing these sweet friends and look forward to spending lots of quality time together.
Happy Friday friends...enjoy the weekend and if you are in the line of the Frankenstorm be careful!
Comfort and Joy
I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Well, it's a girl's night out...
Well, it's a girl's night out
Honey, there ain't no doubt
I'm gonna dance every dance 'til the boys go home
Well, it's my night to rock
No watchin' that ol' clock
Oh, ain't no doubt, Lordy it's a girl's night out
Friday finally came around
This girl's ready to paint the town
Tonight ain't nothin' gonna slow me down
I did my time workin' all week
Tonight's all mine, tomorrow I'll sleep
I wanna hear a band with a country sound
Well, I've been couped up all week long
I've been workin' my fingers to the bone
-The Judds - Girls Night Out
This past weekend I enjoyed not only a night of Girls Night Out but a whole weekend! It was wonderful! Two of my closest girl friends from Boston (along with a new friend that is best buds with Kelly) met in Naples, FL for a wonderful girls weekend. It was truly perfect. After the week I had with Miller and his many antics...it was a much needed reprieve away. We stayed at Kelly's parents house which was gorgeous (I took pics for inspiration for our new house) and lounged around at the Ritz...not really the Ritz but it was just like it. Kelly's grandparents place was a.m.a.z.i.n.g! Truly amazing! Only 16 units in this one beautiful building overlooking the beach and ocean with a full time concierge, a pool, and hot tub. I could definitely live this life. We relaxed and really spent the weekend just having a great time. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it because I have never traveled with them (besides our ski trip in Boston but that was families) but it couldn't have been more perfect. We were all on the same page as far as resting, relaxing, and going out. We all woke up super early because we had 6:00 am flights to catch Friday morning but it made for over 1/2 a day in Naples lounging by the beach and pool.
That night we took it easy by stopping at 5 Guys in our bathing suits and then heading back to the house to shower, get in pj's, make rice krispie treats, and just hang out together.
Saturday we all slept in, made a delicious breakfast, and then headed back to the beach to lounge some more.
Saturday night we dressed up and headed out to a really fun restaurant that had delicious food and fun music. There was one guy singing but he literally never stopped. He sang for hours without ever taking a break. We were the youngest (and also the only pregnant woman in sight) so we enjoyed dancing our hearts out with the new friends we made.
Sunday we slept in again and then after cleaning up the house to lock up, we headed back to the beach for the day. We all booked the last flight out of Naples so it gave us an entire day at the beach.
We took a long walk down the beach and decided to take some fun pictures of all of us together.
Yes, they are making a heart on my belly. =) They already love baby girl!
To end the trip with a bang Kelly's grandpa made sure we all rode to the airport in style.
Thank you Kelly for a wonderful weekend that I will cherish forever. It truly was perfect in every way.

Five for Friday
1. I made the easiest cake/bread two nights ago and it was delicious. You have to try it.
Look at that face...t.r.o.u.b.l.e!
3. We have quite a few Forrest Spence 5k t-shirts left over if you are interested in purchasing one. We have YL, S, M, and XL. Let me know in the comments if you would like to purchase one. They are my favorite shirts so far.
4. I had a painting commissioned by a friend in Memphis. I am in L.O.V.E!!! It turned out great. The 3 kiddos are my 3 (we envisioned what we thought baby girl would look like) with the trees in the background representing Forrest. Cortney did a great job!
5. I am already loving the sweet things little girls can wear. Much different than my boys. It was so fun picking out the girliest monogram for her church bag and picking out sweet dresses. Such a different world than boys.
Happy Friday friends! Enjoy your weekend!
Two (or Three) Ingredient Pumpkin Bread
Ingredients:
- Spice Cake Mix
- 15 oz can of Pumpkin Puree
- 1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 and grease bundt pan.
- Beat ingredients until mixed well.
- Spoon into greased bundt pan.
- Bake 28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake/bread comes out clean. (I had to bake a lot longer - more like 45 but just keep checking after you pass 28 minutes)
- Let cool. When cool enough to handle, invert onto plate and pour apple cider glaze (recipe below) over top. Enjoy!
Apple Cider Glaze
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp Apple Cider or Juice
- 1/2 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 cup Powdered Sucanat (see how to make powdered sucanat here) or Powdered Sugar
Directions:
- In a small bowl, whisk all ingredients until smooth.
- Drizzle over cake. If it’s too thick to drizzle, thin with juice.
- Enjoy!
Your loved ones will thank you!
2. Miller is doing better. Turning his pj's backwards have helped! No more accidents on the floor or anywhere else.

Fun Saturday
This past Saturday David was on call so I planned a few fun things for the boys and I to do. We started the morning at the Le Bonheur Pumpkin Run.
It was a great morning and the weather was great. There were lots of activities for the kids so the boys really enjoyed themselves. They spent lots of time in the jumpy obstacle course. >
We stopped for a little lunch and then headed home for naps. After naps we drove to Dingdad's airplane hangar for a pot luck with his buddies. The boys were thrilled to see Dingdad and Yaya and the new Howard. Dingdad has been working so hard on the Howard for years so it was great to see it finished and flying. The boys were literally on cloud 9.
She really is a beautiful airplane. Dingdad put a lot of sweat and hard work into rebuilding her and I think she was well worth it. They played inside and then found out they were going flying. It was Yaya and Austin's first time flying in the Howard and Miller's first time ever flying with Dingdad. The looks on their faces were priceless.
I took some videos as well. This next video is when he turned on the propeller. It makes a pretty neat noise.
This next video is of them taxiing to the runway.
This last video is landing. I definitely breathed a sigh of relief when they landed. I trust my father in law more than anything but it's still a little nerve-wracking to know your 2 babies are up in that plane.
Definitely a great Saturday!
