Comfort and Joy

I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Pumpkin Patch and Apple Picking

On Wednesday my mom and I drove to Tougas Farm in Northboro, MA.  It took about 50 minutes to get there but was so worth it.  This farm has all kinds of fruit throughout the year but right now it only has apples.  It also has a pumpkin patch.

We picked a Peck worth (10 lbs) of apples.  Austin did a great job picking good apples out of the tree.  Miller only picked up apples that were old, already eaten halfway by an animal, and on the ground.  We had to pretend to put Miller's apples in the bag and then throw them back on the ground when he wasn't looking.  We chose different kinds of apples that were all known for their sweetness and some tartness.

They loved running through the apple fields. IMG_4466 IMG_4492 IMG_4492
(In the next picture you can see an apple sticking out of his left pocket.  He told me he was saving it for later.)

After we finished picking our apples, we stopped at the Pumpkin Patch and picked 2 little pumpkins for my 2 little guys.

Something caught their attention... IMG_4541
What could it be...

one of Austin's favorite things...a bulldozer/digger.

After picking our pumpkins, we headed to the petting zoo. IMG_4551 IMG_4546
We then went to play at the playground that had a tractor you could sit on. Austin loved this. IMG_4571 IMG_4569 IMG_4559
Miller did too.

There were huge tires you could play on. IMG_4555 IMG_4553
And really fun slides.

After playing at the playground we picked up some lunch at the Farm Kitchen, ate at the picnic tables, took home a cookbook, and enjoyed a great ride home together.  As we were driving home I heard a loud crunch...when I looked back, Austin was eating the apple he was saving for later.  He was serious when he told me he wanted it for later.  =)

That evening mom and I made homemade Apple Crisp with all our apples.  It was delicious.  We are definitely making this an annual tradition when we return to Memphis.

P.S. By "can't" I meant can! Whoops! Typo!

I've always wanted to know what a peck is! I sing a song to the kids - I love you a bushel and a peck. Now I know, so thank you! It looks like y'all had fun. I'm taking lessons on tractors and wheels and trucks from you!

It's kind of sad you get more comments about the rat's nest than most other posts. Love Miller's face when sitting on the tire!
