On Austin's actual birthday we started the day by enjoying my mother in law's famous pineapple biscuits. David loves them and thought Austin would enjoy them too and was he right. They are Austin's new favorite breakfast item.
Later that morning Maggie and I picked up Gibson's donuts and dropped them off in his classroom. That is what he chose for his special treat at school. I then went back with Chicfila for lunch and ate lunch with him and then read his favorite book to his class. I also had a chance to eat lunch with Miller and see him dressed up for western day. After school we played and waited for daddy to come home to celebrate as a family. Yaya and Gigi came over (so sad to realize I didn't take one picture of them with Austin) to help us celebrate. We enjoyed dinner and then ice cream cake together. Afterwards he opened presents from his family. It was a great day for my big 6 year old!
Comfort and Joy
I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Austin's birthday celebration
We have decided to do every other year for a birthday party and on the off year the kids can invite 2 friends to do something fun. This year Austin decided to have a campout with his friends. He invited 2 friends and one of the friends was a twin so we wanted to include the other twin too so he ended up with 3 friends. They came over Friday afternoon and stayed till Saturday morning. We grilled out, roasted smores, and played in the backyard a lot. They were so sweet to Miller and included him in everything.
Sweet Maggie wanted to be a part of everything too.
Our cousins sent awesome light sabers so each kid received one to play with and they were a huge hit.
David and I gave each boy a new flashlight and Uncle Toph gave each boy (plus Maggie) a glow in the dark necklace.
David created a safe place for a small fire and it was perfect for roasting marshmallows.
As you can tell, Maggie had marshmallow everywhere.
Everyone got in the tent to get ready for bed and then remembered that they needed to brush teeth, go potty, etc. By the time everyone came in we heard numerous kids say they would rather sleep inside so all the adults (so thankful my mom, my mother in law and Uncle Toph were there to help that night) brought the tent and everything inside to the playroom. We then tucked them in and had to stay on them to actually go to sleep. They finally did after a lot of encouragement. This is how they looked when I checked in before I went to sleep.
Sweet David slept on the couch in the playroom all night just in case anyone was scared. He heard Austin and 1 of the boys at 2:30 up talking about legos so had to remind them that it was the middle of the night.
The next morning we made homemade waffles and played some more before everyone was picked up.
Overall it was a fun night. I think Austin and the other boys enjoyed themselves which is what we wanted but David and I were exhausted! I don't think we will do another sleep over until he is a little older. We paid for it by him being over tired the rest of the weekend, especially Sunday night.

Happy birthday Austin!
This precious guy is 6 years old today!!!
The first time I met him I was so overwhelmed with love and protection for him. I can't even describe the moment I held him for the first time and knew he was our 2nd special gift from above.
His daddy was and still is so very proud of him.
He brings so much joy to our family.
Some of the things he loves...Legos are definitely his number 1!
and he loves sweets...especially Gibson's donuts but any sweet is good to him...I have never seen him turn down a dessert or sweet.
He also loves planes and has his entire life because of his grandad.
He is the BEST big brother...so nurturing...loving...patient...he truly adores all 3 of his siblings.
He loves school and I am so thankful for that. He truly excels there and enjoys going everyday.
He enjoys almost all sports and is extremely competitive...always wanting me to time him and to "race".
He's inquisitive, smart, energetic, a feeler, and a helper.
He is a gift to our family and I am so thankful to call him my son!
