Comfort and Joy

I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will
give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

Katie update

Here is an email sent yesterday from Katie's husband Jeremy.  Please continue to pray for them.  Today is Katie's birthday and Tuesday is the surgery.

Hello Everybody,

We wanted to send out a quick update to everyone as we finished with the day of pre-op testing and have the all clear for surgery on Tuesday.  It was a long day that started with an hour long meeting with Dr. Thompson’s nurse, Karen.  Karen walked us through the entire process- pre-op, post-op, and hospital stay.  The most encouraging thing to us is the fact that the whole meeting had the tone of “routine brain surgery” if there is such a thing.  Not a ton of new information was shared other than specifics of the day, medications, how Katie should feel, and when and how they will communicate with us through the day.  The only part that gave us pause was when she described the dessert plate-sized portion of her skull they will remove to access her brain, but they assured us all would be put back to normal.  At this point I can only pause to marvel and the wonders of modern medicine.

Following this meeting, Katie visited several other departments and finished with an inter-operative MRI.  Unfortunately, Mercy (tumor’s name) is still with us, but we have tons of hope that they will achieve a complete resection.   We are now back home enjoying our babies and Katie’s parents.  Tomorrow we will celebrate a very important day in the Creech household, Momma’s Birthday!  Katie turns 29 tomorrow and we are planning a wonderful day!  It is an amazing thing, but we have found that in the midst of this situation- though we are not always happy- we still experience joy.  I have always read in the Bible about joy in the midst of suffering, but now I see it is true.  Joy doesn’t mean we aren’t scared, and it doesn’t mean that we are naïve about the situation; it means that we cling to a hope that transcends the circumstances of this life.  Keep praying.  We are going to be alright.

Love, Jeremy and Katie
Beautiful Katie

Thanks for the update, Brit! I was thinking about them last week and wondering how things were.
